The Good Life (2008 / 2050)
The Good Life is a collaboration project between Rossella Biscotti & Kevin van Braak, visual artists and Bart Schoonderbeek, architect.
The title is inspired by the homonymous book of the architect Inaki Abalos that invites: to travel in the imagination, to stimulate the pleasure of thinking, planning and living intensively, to encourage the invention of a house that doesn’t exist yet.
The Good Life involves the design and the actual building of a house/structure that is made to become the main character of a movie.
The Good Life will be a movie where the movement of the local community/actors inside the house will test and push the architectural elements towards utopian shapes.
The Good Life will live after the movie as an independent estate.
The Good Life will be a concrete slab in the landscape.
The Good Life will be a foldable structure on a concrete slab.
The Good Life will be located on a rocky land betweens two seas.
The Good Life will be built around a helicopter platform to encourage speed.
The Good Life will be far away from the closest city.
The Good Life will have facilities to enjoy life.
The Good Life will offer its facilities to guests and cultural refugees.
The Good Life starts with a series of presentations.
Before creating the final structure various installations will be made as inspiration material. The Collapsible bus with a series of foldable walls is the first presentation especially made for the exhibition Architectures of Survival. Sparwasser HQ in Berlin.
3rd- 27th of April 2008.
The Good Life would like to thank: Jacques Tati, Buster Keaton, Angiolo Mazzoni and Rudolph M. Schindler.
